We have tried some liquid soap stuff from the pet store. He is an elderly cat so we can't be too aggressive with him. I am looking for personal experiences if possible. How do I get rid of skunk smell on my cat?
I have my cats take a bath twice a month. I used to use the shampoo for pets but those actually weren't good enough to get rid of the litter smell and the worst thing is that they get my hand itchy.
So instead of using those special shampoo for pets I use a regular baby shampoo which is pretty nice for your hand and for your cat.
Not only that but I also wipe my cats once a week with these.

Don't forget to dry your cat with a towel so they won't catch a cold. How do I get rid of skunk smell on my cat?
Vinegar and water works well. The ';salad'; smell will die off (dilute it when you use it, might want to google info on that)and shouldn't harm the cat. Vinegar can cut a lot of funky odors. Depending on the cat's nature, he may not like it due to the smell, but do what you can. You may just have to live with it until it goes away on it's own.
Things You鈥檒l Need:
1 quart hydrogen peroxide(3% strength)
1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon liquid handwashing soap
Step1Rinse your dog with water - get him wet down to his skin.
Step2Slowly pour the mixture all over the dog and rub it though his hair.
Step3Let that soak for 3 to 4 minutes.
Rinse it off with water.
That's it!!
My friend has a golden retriever that got sprayed and he used the tomato remedied but you could still smell skunk,Some one else told me that coke worked and he tried it and it worked.
