I have taken her to the groomers, I have tried tomato juice, etc. The big problem is that it sprayed her in the face, so I cannot use a lot of the chemicals. My sheepdog was sprayed by a skunk in the face. Help!?
give him a bath in tomato juiceMy sheepdog was sprayed by a skunk in the face. Help!?
first thing to do is cut all the hair around his face as short as possible, that is where most of the stink is coming from.then get some baby shampoo and wash all the hair around his face, if you get shampoo in his eyes it wan thurt him so bad. if you have to cut hair off around his neck, just do the same thing. in a few days the smell should be gone.
The dog I had growing up got sprayed in the face...it took WEEKS, yes, weeks, to get the smell out. We washed her with everything we could think of. I think, in the end, it was a mixture of everything.
However, getting it out of the dog was the least of our problems...if this dog is an inside dog, and you let her inside after being sprayed...we had to literally replace EVERYTHING we owned just to get the smell out of our home. It seemed like nothing worked.
Skunks are potent...and definitely not fun to deal with.
I qt white vinegar (or hydrogen peroxide, but it can irritate the eyes if you are not careful)
1/4 c baking soda
1 tsp dish soap
avoid the eyes and mouth. leave it on for 5 min. and rinse well. Use the formula quickly as if loses its punch if it sits. Pour out the remaining mix. Do not store it as it can explode if it is left in a container with a lid.
Wow, that sucks, ok well if you have already tried wat you can i would try to leave it alone the dog will find a way to get rid of it.Tho that is hard to do because of the smell you have to try!
Try spraying it to clean it.
