What's the safest way to get a skunk out of the trap without getting sprayed?

i built a skunk trap and i do not want to get sprayed when approching it or releasing it. i made it like a box out of wood. What's the safest way to get a skunk out of the trap without getting sprayed?
a remote release also keep the envirooment quiet and slow deliberate motions skunks spray when threatened eliminate the treats no sprayingps also cover the trap to keep the light outWhat's the safest way to get a skunk out of the trap without getting sprayed?
The only way I know of is to use a remote release or spring loaded trap. Whatever you do don't shoot the skunk or otherwise harm it while in the trap or it will definitely release.
If you're lucky like I was, his tail got caught in the trap when it closed. If they can't raise their tail, they can't spray you. We tried to trap a possom, and caught a skunk instead. This time his tail wasn't stuck. We had to shoot him, and when he died, the scent went everywhere! GROSS!!
Ask my brothers wife who came to the USA 6 yrs ago from Bulgaria and thought a skunk was a cat. The skunk sprayed her and she got mad and kept swatting at it. Finally, my brother had to run outside because he heard her screaming and open the trap to let it loose. The whole neighborhood stunk for days. She took her clothes off in the house and the whole house reeked. It was crazy. I guess she never seen a skunk before. She knows now. Moral to this story. Dont trap skunks. They stink
shoot it and by the way...What were you thinking?
shoot it

I heard you can raise a blanket up to make a ';wall'; between you and the skunk.Put a hole in the blanket so you can see where you're going. Then approach VERY slowly until you can set the blanket over the cage. I heard that when approached this way they don't spook or feel threatened.
If the skunk can't see you, you're in luck. I have a hav-a- hart wire cage trap. I have a cover that clips to the top + 2 sides with clothespins. You can see in one end and the other end has the trap door. I slowly raise the trap with a hoe, with the open end at the top and the bottom facing away. The skunk goes to the bottom of the trap and can't raise his tail to spray. I slide a large plastic bag over the top of the trap and then lower back down to the ground. I spray a 1/2 can of car starting fluid (ether) in the bag and seal the open end with a twist tie. Wait 20-30 min. to be sure it is dead, open the bag carefully to make sure it's not moving and dispose of it. 9 out of ten times the skunk doesn't release when it dies. Sometimes it does. the odor will run out of the bag when you open it and will make you PUKE. It's against the law to kill a skunk unless you have a trapping license and it is season, but what are you going to do? I'm not gonna open the door and ask it to leave!!!
