There are few things worse than the smell of skunk. If you live in a rural or even suburban area, populated by skunks, it's easier than you think to get sprayed by a skunk or have a pet sprayed by a skunk. But there are some things you can do to get rid of skunk smell, even left-over smell in your house. Read on to learn more.

1 Mix about a quart hydrogen peroxide with about a 1/4 cup baking soda to make a thick paste. Rub it onto your skin or your pet's skin and bath immediately. If you're trying to get the skunk smell from furniture or carpet, try vinegar rather than hydrogen peroxide, since peroxide can bleach fabrics. You may need to repeat this several times to get rid of the smell. You can also add 1 tsp. liquid soap to make the mixture easier to spread.

2 Rub baking soda into your pet's skin or into carpeting and furniture. Vacuum or rinse away to get rid of the smell.

3 Use Skunk-off, a chemical product available at most stores. Febreze is also effective for furniture and carpets, especially if you just tracked in a little bit of smell on shoes or clothing.

4 Combine 1 part bleach with 9 parts water for areas like garages and porches that won't be stained by the bleach.

5 Take any skunk smell clothes to a dry cleaner to ensure the smell is gone. You can try washing them (and only them) in your clothes machine, but expect to have to wash them several times to have any chance at getting rid of the smell.

REMEMBER

Keep any peroxide or vinegar mixtures out of your pet's (and yours or children's) eyes and ears.

now do that which is easy for you.
As far as I'm concerned, all the crazy remedies are a waste of time.

I have used Natures' Miracle skunk off before, but this stuff....well....all I can say is ';WOW';. It is absolutley incredible. Ever since I tried it on various ';stink problems';, even tomcat urine, my home will never go without it.

Seriously, ANYBODY that has old puppy messes that you've tried to get out for years - you have to get this. Skunk spray is nothing for this stuff.

If you dont want to use tomato sauce, you can buy Skunk-Off from your vet.
if you dont want your dog to get stained by the tomato juice when my dog was skunked we just bathed him like three times a day within a week it was more than halfway gone. I hope that helps :)
give him a bath in tomato soup , my sheep dog got into one too and the bath worked the most of everything else i tried
