My dog got sprayed by a skunk..need help!?

Hi,

Last night I let my dog out for her bathroom time. She later got sprayed by a skunk. I was wondering what is a good method of taking out the odor? bathing her in tomato juice perhaps?

Thanks for the answers in advanceMy dog got sprayed by a skunk..need help!?
Tomato Juice/Soup is not recommended for use with pets, try this instead:

1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide

1/4 cup baking soda

1 teaspoon liquid soap

Rinse with water.

Make sure you don't get it in the pet's eyes!My dog got sprayed by a skunk..need help!?
If you want a quick fix sure fire answer, check out your local petstore. (Try Petsmart or Super Pet) Or even a breeder nearby. There are sprays, shampoos and even wipes now that can mask or get rid of the smell of skunk. Or if you're willing to spend some money, go to a groomer and they've probably got some kind of ';skunk be gone'; package.

I wouldn't suggest tomato Juice though, not only is this a remedy for HUMANS not animals, your dog could have an allergic reation to it. (My puppy, Maggie a yellow Lab, not only spent a night in the vets office but was also stained pink because of the red juice.) So please not tomato juice.

Hope it helps.
The standard procedure for skunk sprays is tomato juice; but your dog will still smell for a while. It all depends on how bad the dog got sprayed.
Tomato juice works so try that first.
MY VET JUST TOLD ME TO USE TOOTHPASTE. SOAK THE DOG WELL WITH WATER THEN RUB THE TOOTHPASTE IN , THEN RINCE
I use to live in Northern Michigan where skunks are everywhere and rarely a week goes by when you don't collide with the odor of one. I learned that there's only about one thing that really works in removing the odor, and that is ';Pine Sole';. I wouldn't use it full-strength on your animal however...but a diluted mixture with shampoo might tackle the problem for you (and your dog). I know that it would certainly improve the matter. Good luck.
Yes, tomato juice is good.
i've also heard that tomato juice works. i need to warn you though, a friend of mine went through this with her cocker spaniel and it took 3 weeks to get the smell completely out.
